SUMMARY:VNA Flu Vaccination Clinic
DESCRIPTION:COVID-19 cases are continuing to keep Monterey County in the high-risk Tier 1   the purple color code   and flu season fast approaching\, it is critical that underserved communities receive information about the differences between the two viruses and become vaccinated against influenza. Both viruses spread from person-to-person in close contact\, mainly through air droplets from the nose and mouth. These two diseases share many of the same characteristics and symptoms\, making it difficult to tell the difference between them. The critical difference   a vaccine to prevent seasonal flu exists. While the flu vaccine won't protect against COVID-19\, it will improve chances of not acquiring seasonal flu. Protection from influenza is important to the health of our community and is a vital health measure to assist in the battle against COVID-19. While VNA Hospice's Latino Mobile Resource Center exists to specifically engage with this population about hospice services\, education and resources\, and it also enlists other resources to provide education about and linkage to other important health issues\, such as influenza\, and arranging vaccination clinics for the Latino community. VNA Hospice's Latino Mobile Resource Center and VNA Community Services is partnering with CHISPA Housing Management\, Inc. to provide education\, resources\, and flu vaccines.
